IPL and WaxingIPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. IPL treatments refer to permanent hair removing and photo rejuvenation. During treatment IPL lasers convert light energy to heat energy and remove unwanted hair and skin pigmentation.
IPL Hair RemovalWhat Makes IPL Hair Removal Different From Other Laser Hair Removal?
Other types of hair removal lasers operate on single light wavelengths. IPL lasers use a full spectrum of light wavelengths.
IPL lasers can also change the intensity of its pulsed light, so that it works more directly on the top layers of the skin and does not go deep enough to damage hair cells.
How many treatments are required?
There are three phases of hair growth, and it is during the active growing phase that there is enough melanin in the hair bulb to permanently destroy the hair follicle. There are only about one third of the hair follicles are in the active growing phase at any one time and thus able to be targeted by IPL. This is why multiple treatments are required. A minimum of four to six treatments are required.
Darker skin colour and lighter coloured hair will require more treatments, since there is less melanin in the hair roots.
What are the Possible Side Effects of IPL It is normal to experience some redness of the skin. In few cases, the redness can last for a few days.
Photorejuvenation With IPLIntense Pulsed Light (IPL) skin treatments also use the photorejuvenation process. This new technique treats skin damage non-invasively there is no disruption of the skin's epidermal surface. IPL treatments address the effects of photo aging and sun damage with low risk of complications and no recovery time.
Photorejuvenation treats a variety of conditions including age spots, sun-induced freckles, symptoms of rosacea, birthmarks, unsightly veins, acne scarring and unwanted hair.
ProcedureA cold gel is usually applied to the areas to be treated and patients wear protective eyewear.
A glass surface of the IPL handpiece is applied to the skin. Light is delivered to the skin surface which is painless. In rare cases redness may occur which may last one or two hours. In most cases, the entire face is treated, but we can also treat other parts of the body.
